Hide your profile photo from specific people
Go to Settings › Privacy & Security › Profile photo › Hide From and tap the people you want to hide it from. They see a plain circle instead of your photo, wherever your photo would appear.
To show it to someone again, open the same page and remove them from the list.
The server enforces this, not just the app, so a hidden photo cannot be fetched another way.
